Saturday, July 28 Summary

Sturgeon Bay, eight at Baileys Harbor and six at Washington Island.

Friday, July 27 Summary
Where are all the big fish? That?s what many anglers are asking after
the second straight day of no changes in the top 10 leaderboard. No doubt the
traffic will increase dramatically this weekend, though, and changes are likely.
Will anyone catch Bill Woehrmann? That?s the $5,000 question.
For the second straight day, fog and bouncy seas hampered boaters early on, but
things settled down nicely midday through early evening before the winds picked
up again, this time from the north/northeast. Winds are predicted to settle to
the 5-10 mph range the final two days.
The catching Friday was spotty, with some anglers doing well and others striking
out. Most were somewhere in between. There were 59 fish brought to the weigh-in
sites, 15 each at Sturgeon Bay and Algoma, 13 at Kewaunee, 10 at Baileys Harbor
and six at Washington Island.
Friday's Port Prize Winners
Algoma: Mike Bartaszewicz, 19.78
Baileys Harbor: Robert Mahling, 19.75
Kewaunee: Douglas Hanten, 20.05

Washington Island: Mike Cornell, 16.43

Thursday, July 26 Summary
Fog in the morning and rough seas later on hampered boaters, and
fishing pressure was down. Anglers who fished brought only 44 larger ones to the
scales, one of them topping 20 pounds.
Algoma had 12 (four over 17), Sturgeon Bay 10 (two over 17), Washington Island
10 (one over 17), Baileys Harbor 6 (two over 19, one disqualified as witness had
no ticket), and Kewaunee 6.
While there were residual SE ?rollers? left over, the lake was much calmer
Friday morning. Strong north/northeast winds were in the forecast for later in
the day, but the rest of the weekend is looking good, with a forecast of
northeast winds 5-10 miles per hour both Saturday and Sunday.

Tuesday, July 24 Summary
Calm seas early turned a bit choppy later on as continued southeast
winds began to raise the thermocline. While the surface temps were still warm,
the water was much cooler below, allowing anglers to put more presentations into
play.

10. A total of 89 fish were weighed. Sturgeon Bay had 27 (nine over 17), Algoma

Monday, July 23 Summary
Continued south/southeast wind made it a little bouncy on the
lake, but may in time help raise the thermocline after a north blow that changed
the current and warmed the water late last week and slowed catches somewhat by
Sunday. While plenty of fish are still being caught, the action numbers-wise has
not been nearly as good as it was most of the summer.
Two more 20-pound-plus fish were brought to the tournament scales for a total of
10 one-third of the way through the 9-day contest. Seventy-one of the fish
registered so far are 17 pounds or larger.
A total of 65 fish were weighed Monday. Algoma booked 16 (three over 17);
Sturgeon Bay 14 (three over 17); Baileys Harbor 13 (seven over 17); Kewaunee 11
(six over 17); and the Island 11 (four over 17).

Saturday, July 21 Summary Day 1
Calm seas greeted opening day anglers for the third straight year. An
all-time low number of 20-pound-plus fish - two, compared to the previous low of
six in 2005 and 34 last year - was the big newsmaker.
A total of 91 fish were brought to the scales. Most of the salmon entered
weighed 13 to 16 pounds.
Sturgeon Bay weighed 37 fish (only five over 17 pounds); Algoma 23 (six over 17
pounds); Kewaunee 12 (four over 17); Baileys Harbor 11 (two over 17 pounds); and
Washington Island eight (five over 17 pounds).
